About Our Camp
Whether your
child is enrolled in full-day or half-day camp, they will play several
different sports each day. If your child is enrolled for full-day camp, in
addition to playing sports, they will also receive swim lessons and have free
time to play in the pool. Our campers are fed a warm and nutritious
breakfast and lunch each day (half-day campers leave before lunch is
served). So all parents have to worry about is getting their child to
camp, and we'll take care of the rest. At the end of the day you pick-up
a tired and well fed child.
As a parent,
have you ever wondered what your child does at camp all day? Or wonder if
your child is having fun at camp? With Honu Family Sports Camp you don't
have to wonder any more. Each day we take photos of all our campers and
post them on a private website that only parents have access to. Now you
can see for yourself how much fun your child is having at camp.
We offer
swimming, basketball, volleyball, soccer, kickball, field hockey, flag
football, archery, kickball, and other field games to keep things fun for our
campers. For some campers, some of these sports will be new to them, while
other campers will have quite a bit of experience. Our staff is great
at providing just the right instruction, whether your child is new to the sport
or a seasoned athlete. We do our very best to group kids according to age and
ability. We understand that the right placement is essential to children enjoying
camp.
Our camp instructors are hand picked and love
working with kids. We perform background checks and fingerprint our instructors
to ensure that they can safely work with children. Our child/instructor ratio
is always at least 7 students to 1 instructor. In the swimming pool we strive
for a 5 to 1 ratio. Our goal is to always provide a safe and fun environment
that kids of all ages and skill levels can enjoy.
Along with being fed nutritious meals, learning the fundamentals of many sports, children will be learning the importance of being active and eating healthy. We teach and encourage children to follow the
“5-3-2-1-0-GO” initiative. 5 is the number of fruits and vegetables
children should eat each day. 3 is the number of structured meals
children should eat each day. 2 is the number of electronic media
hours children should consume each day. 1 is for one hour of
moderate-to-vigorous activity children should engage in each day to ensure
proper development and health. Zero is for the number of sugar
sweetened drinks children should consume each day. “Go” is to go outside, play, and be active!
Each day your
child will have the pleasure of playing several different sports throughout the
day, and everyday they will get a chance to swim (full-day campers only). Our
wonderful, caring and knowledgeable staff will provide just the right
instruction to ensure your child has the best summer ever when they choose HONU
FAMILY SPORTS CAMP.
